Basil, Sweet, Therapeutic Quality Essential, 5 ml.

Ocimum basilicum

Basil is an insect repellent and nervine, meaning it relaxes the mind and eases pain. It is a stomachic and cleans the intestines. Basil blends well with eucalyptus, frankincense, ginger, lavender, lemon, and rosemary.

Bergamot Essential Oil, unsprayed, 5 ml.

Citrus bergamia

Bergamot is a bitter orange, originally from Lombardi. It is highly fragrant and carminative. It helps improve the appetite and digestion and acts on intestinal parasites. It has modest antimicrobial properties and a tendency to stimulate the pancreas and liver. It can also be used vaginally for candida, often blended with geranium or lavender. Bergamot is tonifying to the nervous system and relieves tension. It is often added to blends to support emotional release and relaxation. It is somewhat phototoxic so when used topically, it is better to avoid exposure to the sunlight for three days following use.

Boswellia serrata

Frankincense contains approximately 200 different chemicals and the properties vary enormously according to habitat and climate. It has long been recognized as one of the resins of choice for lifting consciousness towards the divine. It can be used in aromatherapy but not in nebulizing diffusers.

Cabreuva Essential Oil, 5 ml.

Myrocarpus fastigiatus

Cabreuva oil is antiseptic and mold-resistant. It has been used for centuries to treat wounds and scars. It is also sometimes used as an aphrodisiac for sexual debility because it has a direct action on the hypothalamus. It has a delicate woody aroma. It is nontoxic but sometimes slightly irritating to the skin.

Calamus Essential Oil, organic, 5 ml.

Acorus calamus

Sweet flag is a semi-aquatic plant with an underground root that has a pleasantly sweet aroma but bitter taste. It is considered holy in many cultures and is used as an anointing oil, often in combination with myrrh, frankincense, and sometimes spices or gums. It is believed that it helps to transmute energy and lift the kundalini. Though the herb is taken internally, the oil is recommended only for external use. The oil acts as a fixative when mixed with other oils. It is also fungicidal, bactericidal, and insecticidal. It can be used on crops and to disinfect surfaces as well as to prevent bed bugs and insect bites.

Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil, organic, 5 ml.

Cinnamomum burmannii

Cinnamon is often used as a bactericide or for lowering blood sugar. It is also antifungal and antimicrobial. It is irritating and should not be used on skin; however, it can be used to purify air and reduce risks from airborne pathogens. It can also be used as a flavoring or to relieve abdominal bloating and flatulence. It combines exceptionally well with orange essential oil.

Citronella, Therapeutic Quality Essential Oil, 5 ml.

Cymbopogon nardus, unsprayed

This oil is distilled from the fresh grass and is a natural insect repellent and vermifuge. It is often used to disinfect rooms and freshen the air. At low doses, it is non-toxic but it pays to test for skin sensitivity before applying to the skin or clothing. It blends well with eucalyptus, lavender, lemon, peppermint, rosemary, and tea tree.

Consider using this or a blend based predominantly on citronella in the amulet. It can also be added to the water used to mop floors, and it can be diffused using a nebulizer or candle.

Clary Sage Essential Oil, organic, 5 ml.

Clary sage is a plant with wide commercial and medicinal uses. Basically, it is antispasmodic and thus relieves cramps, but it is somewhat stimulating to estrogen production so this fact should be noted by those seeking to avoid such oils. For the same reason, it is something for menopausal women to consider. It is a tonic for digestion as well as the kidneys.

Clove Bud Essential Oil, organic, 5 ml

Clove bud oil is most commonly used for tooth aches but is very antimicrobial and antifungal. It is an excellent respiratory and cardiovascular aid. There is some research suggesting it normalizes thyroid function. If diluted (1% essential oil), clove oil can be used on the skin for acne, warts, scars, and parasites. It blends well with basil and cinnamon as well as lavender.

Coriander Seed Essential Oil, unsprayed, 5 ml.

Coriandrum sativum

There is abundant research on the use of coriander seed essential oil for serious liver conditions and cancer, but the traditional uses are digestive. The oil is both fungicidal and larvicidal. It is also antimicrobial. Its use goes back at least 3000 years.

Pseudotsuga menziesii

Douglas fir is a zesty aromatic oil with a hint of lemon in the pine. Douglas fir is used as a disinfectant, room freshener, and respiratory aid. Some use it to clear their space for meditating and aligning. Though non-toxic and non-irritating, it is meant for external use. It mixes well well lavender, lemon, and rosemary.

Eucalyptus Essential Oil, organic, 5 ml.

Eucalyptus radiata

Eucalyptus is generally used as an inhalant for long-term sinus and respiratory complaints. Our species, radiata, is gentler than many forms of eucalyptus and therefore is suitable people who have spasms and other irritations. It can be used as an antimicrobial for both bacteria and viral infections. It is especially effective against staphylococcus and should be considered for use with eczema. It combines well with lemon but also can be used with peppermint and lavender.

Foeniculum vulgare

Fennel has a fragrance similar to licorice taste and is very popular in India and parts of Europe. It's aromatic and relaxing. It is used to detoxify and strengthen the liver, relieve colic and spasms, promote healthy digestion and assimilation of nutrients, and cleanse the mouth after eating. It is antibacterial and antifungal. Some believe it promotes hormonal balance. The oil is made from the seeds and is non-toxic and non-irritating but it should not be used during pregnancy. Despite its reputation for being estrogenic, it is anticarcinogenic and chemoprotective.

Frankincense Essential Oil, 5 ml

Boswellia frereana

Frankincense is mainly used to reduce inflammation, but it can also be applied to scars. It is considered to be so spiritually elevating that it relieves depression. It improves breathing and promotes relaxation of a soothing and harmonizing quality. Though mainly used ritually, recent research has found significant uses in the treatment of cancer and diseases of the reproductive system and urinary tract. It is non-irrating and blends well with lavender and lemon.

Geranium Essential Oil, organic, 5 ml.

Pelargonium graveolens

Geranium has a very sweet floral aroma, almost like roses. It is a tiny bit astringent and is often used topically for skin regeneration. It has an action on the adrenal cortex and is therefore a little stimulating. This effect promotes improved circulation. It is often used in combination with other oils to reduce cellulite or promote hair growth. It is also used topically for athlete's foot and other fungal infections, such as candida. Internally, it acts on the liver and pancreas. It blends very well with many other oils, including all the members of the ginger and citrus families.

Ginger Essential Oil, 5 ml

Ginger has very specific aromatherapy uses that are quite different from culinary and other medicinal uses. For instance, ginger is regarded as an aid to recovering memory. It is, of course, stimulating, but it is also grounding. It is anti-inflammatory and has pain relieving properties. Ginger blends well with frankincense and lemon as well as peppermint and even tea tree.

Gingergrass Essential Oil, 5 ml.

Cymbopogon martini var. sofia

Cymbopogon martinii is the source of two different essential oils: palmarosa and gingergrass. The gingergrass oil is used to clear sinus passages and improve blood flow. If used topically, such as a compress to the head or chest, it should be diluted. It can also be added to bath water, about 8 drops per tub of water. If used in a nebulizing diffuser, adhere to the safe operating guidelines by turning the diffuser off after 3-5 minutes. Since this spicy oil is new to our line, those who are wondering how it smells might compare it to lemongrass. It mixes well with frankincense and can be used to stimulate circulation to the head.

Guaiacwood Essential Oil, 5 ml.

Bulnesia sarmientoi

Guaiac is a very thick oil that is distilled from pieces of wood and sawdust. It is highly aromatic and because it is inexpensive, it is often used to impart character to cosmetic products. Though it is not technically Lignun vitae, the source of guaiacum, it is so similar that it is often substituted when used medicinally. It has traditionally been used to treat venereal diseases, especially those caused by spirochetes. It is also often used to treat arthritis, which in many cases may be due to parasitic or spirochete infection. The oil is very thick but pours easily if warmed.

Western red cedar essential is disinfective. It is highly antibacterial as well as nourishing to the skin. It has a strong and centering aroma that aids clarity and meditation.
