Just wondering, I conceived on Dec 20, 2002 and during cancer, the next day it went into capricorn. It wasn't until late that next day that it switched into a boy sign. I am sure that I conceived on Dec 20 for several reasons. I had a positive OPT the evening of the 18th, and again the morning and evening of the 19th. It then was negative by the morning of the 20th. I had severe opain on the evening of the 19th and morning of the 20th. My temp rose the morning of the 20th. Our last bd was Dec 18 late at night, so the sperm were there waiting.
We found out we are having a boy, and that goes against all the beliefs that I have read on the moon. Can you explain? thanks.

Actually, I am going to move this post so that all the information is in one place.

I think people need an expert to guide them because for those who don't really understand astrology, this is obviously way too challenging.

First of all, according to the birth data you posted, you were born just after the new moon SO your astrological cycle is the new moon cycle. You didn't give a time or place of birth so it's impossible to know how many hours after the new moon you were born and therefore it is also impossible to know the exact moment of the recurring lunar cycle.

Secondly, if you had intercourse on Dec 18, 2002, as stated above, there was a full moon so you conceived according to your ovulation cycle, ergo the 15% that is often referred to in posts to the bulletin board.

The chart on the web site for which you sent a link is completely ambiguous because there is no mention of the month and the dates for intercourse do not match what you discussed in this post. That chart says you had intercourse on December 12th, Moon in Aries, but it's pointless to comment since the month isn't shown.

IF you conceived on December 20th, according to the Jonas rules, you would have conceived a girl; but this does not seem certain based on the information you have provided. Jonas allowed hours for the sperm to reach the egg, not days. If you had intercourse on the 18th, the Moon was in Gemini, a masculine sign.

I understand the desire to select the gender of a child, but if it is as important as this seems, I strongly suggest hiring a really competent astrologer to perform the calculations for you. The way most of you are attempting to interpret the astrology is simply not going to produce predictable results.

Best wishes and congratulations!

Thanks Ingrid,
Actually you were looking at the cycle day 12, if you look below it says Dec 16th and 18th for bd days.

Also I thought that it was when you conceived not when you bd. We bd on Dec 18th and conceived on the 20th.

About my birth data, I noticed also that my O should be in the new moon cycle, but it always seems to be during a full moon. At least the two months I got pg. (The month before I had a chem pg, I conceived on Nov 20th that month)

I was born in NY and it was at 3:28pm EST.

What do you think now that you have this info? Also what do you recommend for our next child if we try for a girl? thanks so much.

The truth is I didn't study the chart and don't know what all the abbreviations mean. Maybe I need to define the service I do offer . . . which in this case is really limited to an article called "Storks and Stars" that is posted on this site. The bulletin board is for questions on medical astrology. The only thing I do with respect to fertility and medical astrology is overcome stubborn sterility.

I use the Jonas information as one part of an overview of the whole issue of fertility. When people are combining ovulation cycles and astrological cycles, it's obviously relevant to them and others like them, but the statement I made to you (and others) is that if you conceive according to the astrological method, it is possible to pinpoint the exact moment of conception. If you conceive, as you did, according to the ovulation cycle, I have to take you at your word that conception occurred when you or the doctor said it did. For me, this is interesting information in that it corroborates the theory that 15-30% of conceptions occur during the ovulation cycle, but it is no longer possible for me to predict the gender of the child.

In your particular case, you are asking me to accept that you conceived two days after intercourse, which is obviously possible, but with the astrological method, the best results are obtained when the sperm is presented approximately 12 hours before the intended time of conception. When this is the case, there are fewer variables, such as rhe Moon changing signs, which it most often will do if 2-3 days are allowed for the sperm to reach the egg. This is why much more precision is possible when one ignores the ovulation cycle and plans the conception around the astrological cycle only.

In the case of stubborn sterility, combining the two cycles gives a high probability of conception in some cases . . . not all. However, the moment the two cycles are combined, the variables of conception increase and gender selection is rendered less certain.

Thus, my response is really that if you conceived during a full moon, you didn't conceive according to the astrological cycle so gender prediction is less certain because we would all be agreeing that conception could have occurred any time during a 2-3 window of opportunity rather than at a specific instant when we know exactly where the Moon is.

I gather a lot of people are interested in this subject, but perhaps I could refocus the discussion. What I do as an astrologer is quite broad, but with respect to fertility and conception, I generally work with people who have been challenged by miscarriages or infertility. In these instances, I use a combination of dietary, herbal, and astrotherapies to remove the obstacles to conception. The preparation for conception generally takes six months.

In the case of both men and women, I prepare the parents-to-be by helping them to detoxify and then produce "world class sperm" and a "comfortable uterus." This is the starting point for the adventure of conception and becoming parents and it is, quite frankly, a lot more interesting than fussing with thermometers.

Hi Ingrid,
I have a question about spontaneous ovulation. Is
it possible for a woman who has reached menopause
and who has stopped having hormonal ovulations to
still have a spontaneous ovulation?
Thank you for your time.

Hello Ingrid,
Do you or do you know anyone who offers their services to people who want to calculate their best chances, astrologically, to conceive a certain gender?

I already have a Jonas calendar which I got as part of a study I´m participating in, and I´m now thinking of completing that info with some purely astrological facts from a professional astrologer, especially since according to Jonas rules, I have very small chances to conceive the desired gender.

Thank you,

To Elisabeth,
I have been calculating my fertility times for the past few years. I initially ordered the full 12 month analysis from Jonas to see if he did something differently than I did. I don't think he does. Anyway, my husband and I tried on the dates he had calculated (just having intercourse on those days that assured a healthy/safe pregnancy--there were six for that year). I did not, however, get pregnant.

I told them of this and they promptly sent another full 12 month report urging me to try on on all the dates. Again, I tried.

Two years before even ordering the Jonas report, I learned how to calculate the same information so I have been trying for about 4 years. I am still calculating my times although I have not become pregnant yet. I don't this this is testimony to the fact that I'm calculating wrong, however. So, although I have not had success with the methods yet, I am able to calculate times, calculate healthy fetus times and determine sex.

Even though I have tried unsuccessfully for about 4 years using this method, I still believe that having intercourse during these times definitely increases your chances. I have recently been to see a fertility specialist and perhaps there is a physical impediment to my getting pregnant.

I would be happy to help you with your fertility times.

As I have said, helping people with these questions is a bit time consuming. Those who are serious should consider a professional consultation. Others should be willing to take the risk of performing the calculations themselves (and probably making mistakes.)

From my perspective, the persons who might benefit from professional help are those who are determined to select the gender of the child, those who have previous histories of complicated preganancies, those who have difficulty conceiving, and perhaps those who wish to invoke a specific type of child, someone the family much wishes to join the circle.

I apologize for taking more of your time regarding gender specific conception-is there someone that you would suggest for professional counseling regarding lunar calculations? Your input would be appreciated.

When I have time, I do this work, but some of my students can also do it. I can refer you to someone if you like.
Posted on Wednesday, January 07, 2004 - 8:20 pm:

My questions are fairly simple as I have 2 girls and have been healthy with no problems with conception. It may sound trite, but I would really like a boy as this is our last one and I want to make sure that I understand the chart and my chances.
However, we are limited financially and I cannot afford to pay a lot for this. but on those same lines, I understand this kind of thing is time consuming and I don't expect answers for free.
So, for whatever that is worth, I would be interested in speaking with someone about it, but if I am understanding my chart correctly, my best chances would be in April or June of this year. So I guess time would be of the essence. I understand that you might not be able to give names on this board, so please feel free to e-mail me directly at shimmer811@yahoo.com.
Again, thank you

Perhaps a better way to go would be reading if you have suggested articles or books. I am not afriad to do the legwork myself if I know how to do it correctly....
